I also grew up with them and never thought to much about the words sang, just loved to hear it
But is it stilll a go go these days or old fashioned ?

Its unfortunately the way of jewish music.
I really think that many jewish singers hope or think that their listening crowd just dont even know the original songs so they dont take notice of how awful some of the songs are. |
Donβt fool yourself, it was the same back in Europe. My grandmother said some famous niggunim were originally love songs.
