Just bought a hamilton beach crockpot. When I look at the bottom of the unit(not the insert) there is a hole that looks like a screw should be there, but I don't see a purpose for it, and there is no screw lying around the box. I tried calling the company, but their call center closed. Anyone else have that on a 4qt?

Email them. Or call the place you bought it from. Maybe they'll know what it is, or send you a replacement.

It is there for a purpose. It's so that the displaced air has where to go when you put in the insert.

I thought that is why there is a hole in the cover. My old one did not have it- that's why I asked.- thanks so much!!

This is correct. Just got home and checked my crockpot.

The hole in the cover is for venting the pressure and heat.
