Does halacha forbid us to follow the law of the land?

Reading many threads here one might get that impression...

I believe (as does my LOR) that halacha insists we MUST follow the law of the land.

Did the Chashmonaim close the yeshivos because it was the law of the land?

When this comes up, I think it is really, really important that we first steep ourselves in the sugya of respecting people and maintaining our ahavas Yisrael for those we disagree with.
Let's share links of shiurim and articles. I am not hijacking the post, I'm doing hachana to tackle this question.
I'll start with some recent shiurim on TorahAnytime by Rabbi Chaim Eisenstein. Google.

This sounds eerily familiar.
How common is it that a poster creates a new username and profile? 🤔

If the law of the land dictates chillul Shabbos Chances are you need to follow the Torah and disregard the law of the land, For example. There are countless instances such as this one in Jewish history since matan Torah. you might benefit from learning some of our history.
Every situation needs to be discussed with a rav as each one is different.

What do you have to read? I can't seem to focus on shiurim. But I can read. Does that mean I'm a visual learner?
