I’m so curious what people’s frame of reference is when they talk about a good or decent salary for a full time job with someone who has a masters degree. Obviously there are so many different factors but what do YOU think? (Annual not hourly)

So much of this depends on field. A masters in art history will generally give you a very different salary than a masters in computer science. Location is also a big factor.

100% that’s why I said in my OP that it depends on different factors. But still I feel like people have an idea of what they consider a decent salary

For someone fresh off their masters with no or minimal work experience? I think $60K is decent if there is room to grow and no major educational debt was incurred. I'm OOT.

Really depends on what your degree is in. I do think it would be helpful to have more salary transparency.

I have an advanced degree but not a masters exactly (think CPA/MBA/JD type) and I make 90k as my starting salary. I'm happy with this and I know there's room to grow.

People don't always work in the same field as their degree.

A relative of mine has a degree in communications, but works as a financial analyst. She is working on getting her masters in finance now, and her current job is paying for it.

Another friend majored in biology and fine arts, but works in software design.

Someone I knew through work years ago started out as a professional ballerina, then built a second career without a degree in a very specialized industrial technology.

Rule of thumb I’d consider $100k to be decent salary and $200k to be good for someone a few years out from their masters.

No degree but working 20 years.
100k plus benefits.
The young girls with BA get around $32 an hour.
MA and experience around $45 or 85k
I hear education field makes around $90 an hour
Even more than therapists
But they only get paid per session not salary so they are very hard hit now during covid
