My 1 yr old DD has randomly red cheeks. Now she has bright red cheeks over the passed few days and is very kvetchy.

What could this be a reaction from? Anyone have kids like that and perhaps its from a food allergy?

My doctor dismissed it as a 1 yr old thing. I don't think he is right.
My first daughter had red cheeks as a baby but that was from eczema so I can tell the difference.

You should mosturize it. It’s from the cold. It though should not be bothering her, if it is bothering her then I would say it’s the start of eczema and it might be an allergic reaction which I highly doubt it is.

I do moisturize. It wasn't that cold outside and she is not really outdoors much.

she is not itching her cheeks

Did you put on steam that can also cause it the change in the house. I would try a different mosturizer but wouldn’t be to concerned

Could be 5th disease or rosacea.

My son gets that when he was an ear infection. It’s his only symptom

My guess is food sensitivity. Phenols especially.

Yup, that was DD after eating dairy. (She outgrew it eventually.)

Is it just red or does it look like a slapped cheek?

I found aloe vesta to be very helpful when it was caused by the wind or heating in the house.
It’s petroleum based & has aloe Vera too.

Have used MR cream for a very short time in the past too & works amazing.

How did they rule out parvovirus? In my experience it can come & go for a quite a while & May yes or not be accompanied with fever. Can only be tested after for antibodies which may or may not show.

I have an almost 2 year old who gets it also (his older sister also gets it). It normally accompanies a virus and goes away after 2-3 days.

That's why I asked if it's just red or looks like a slapped cheek. If it's strep it looks like a slapped cheek rather than just red.

I would guess parvovirus/5th disease/slapped cheek syndrome which is a normal viral process that you don’t have to worry about.
