am I absolutely nuts if I make a theme thats "drug" related? (it has to do with our costumes.)

I'm talking about coke, mushrooms, gum cigarettes, wine, powder candy (cokaine...)

I can see it done in young MO crowds and be kinda ok... if no kid around, in a group of young friends with similar humour... I wouldn't do it.

I wonder sometimes if people have lost the spirit of purim.
I believe that t's not just to stam get dressed up and have fun. there's meaning and reason behind the playfulness.
that's not to say that one needn't be creative. but wudnt one want her creativity to reflect the spirit and the message of the day?
that's why I don't get it when ppl dress up as non jewish characters, have crass costumes, put non jewish refereces in their purim poems, etc.

this is my personal opinion. obviously, ppl disagree and that's fine.

Seriously though, why on earth would you want to use a druggie theme?
I'm genuinely curious. Using drugs isn't cool or 'wordly', it's destructive and stupid....everybody knows that.

I never understood why people would let their children dress like witches, when witchcraft is forbidden. nor this drug theme idea, nor any other less than "yiddishe taam" theme.
