I don't like chocolate.

I used to like it but the past two years or so, I really don't. Not Hershey's, not Godiva, not any chocolate. It has a bitter aftertaste. Am I crazy?

Try milk chocolate, it's sweeter than dark. Dark definitely has a bitter edge. It used to be called 'bittersweet' till the image gurus decided that that sounded negative and restyled it 'dark.' Perception is everything.

I'm talking about milk chocolate. If anything, pareve chocolate is easier for me to handle. It's not exactly a bitter taste- maybe sour is a better description.

I have been able to eat the Harmony chocolate bar which is white and milk chocolate mixed together. But I dislike plain white chocolate, and regular milk chocolate has that odd taste.
I really posted to find out if this is unusual or if other people are like me.

The answer is that at least in the Western world, chocolate is very much enjoyed by most people. That doesn't mean that those who dislike it are mentally ill. De gustibus non disputandum est (in matters of taste there is no dispute). I'm not sure I know anyone who actively dislikes chocolate but I do know people who can take it or leave it.

My friend doesn't like chocolate. I don't think that's human.

I love chocolate. But I prefer the parve over milk. Milk chocolate leaves an aftertaste that bothers me until I drink water to wash it away. But I love it while I eat it, so I put up with it. And eat some more.

During my third pregnancy, I couldn’t take the taste of sweetness. I’d bake cookies and leave out 3/4 of the sugars and it would still taste ugh. It did take less than two years to get back to normal, though.

Ok phew, at least you were able to eat something in the chocolate family 😅. I’ll tell the cops to turn around.
