I started transitioning my son from 2 to 1 nap on Sunday.
He was somewhat tired but ok most of the week, although today he seemed to crash. From 5 and on he was sooo cranky, kvetchy, crying, puffy red eyes...
How long should I give it before I go back to two naps?
The only reason I switched him to one nap is because he started waking up 5:30/45. It's too early. Now he sleeps till 7ish.
He happily took both his naps without fuss, and went to sleep nicely at 7 when I put him down for the night.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I should let him have both naps and just wake up with him at 5:30?
What do you Imas think?

I wouldn't take away a nap from a baby who was napping well. Did you try putting him to sleep later for the night and keeping both naps?

7 is not late at all for a baby who has two naps. Try 730 or 8 and see if he sleeps later in the morning.

I would try to put him to sleep earlier for the night. like start bedtime routine at 530 - dinner, bath, books, and bedtime by 615 and see what happens. this worked amazing for me bH.

What time did your child wake up in the morning? And then two naps or one during the day?

My baby gets up at about 7:30. By 9-9:30 he's tired already. He sleeps for about 1.5 hrs and his 2nd nap is around 2:30. He goes to sleep 8:30.

I didn't officially transition, it happened so. When I saw with 2 naps he wasn't yet tired 7-7:30, I pulled him longer in the morning and then put him for a nap 11-2.

I switched by baby at 10 months (I know crazy early) because he started taking 20 minute naps and crying for a while before he fell asleep. Switched to 1 nap and he immediately started taking 2-3 hour naps and goes down happy. First few days were hard to get him used to it but he was fine.
Early mornings can be a reason to switch to 1 nap, but I would try later bedtime first.

Ok, seems like my only option is to try later bedtime. I didn't really want to do that because I appreciate my quiet evenings. I don't get to do much while he is awake.
Either later bedtime or earlier mornings. I'll have to pic. BH for such dilemmas!
