I love reading, especially historical fiction, fantasy, and biographies/memoirs. But really any book that isn't too scary or depressing.

What can you recommend that 1- does not have zexual content 2- does not have bad language

Perfect Little Children (I really liked this one!)

A Game for All the Family (I'm in the middle of this one now. It's going well!)

I wasn't a fan of her collection of short stories, "The Fantastic Book of Everybody's Secrets."

There are a few more I plan to read after I finish the one I'm on. I love her style and she sucks you right into the story! Great characters, great plots, well written. :-)

Thank you!

Excited to try a new author- I see she's very well reviewed in Amazon

The Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. Starts around WW1. Mystery but mostly historical fiction. And lovely!

juliet marillier is historical fantasy-all her books are set in medieval times and very well written as well as clean.
To the poster who mentioned Jean Plaidy-I don't remember her books being so clean? Holt yes but not Plaidy, but it could just be that it's so long since I read them.

Kiwi I just looked up Sophie Hannah’s books and Amazon. I thought Perfect Little Children sounded interesting. Well I kept scrolling down and here’s something almost as weird and scary as the book seems to be! (In a good way)
She has another book called Haven’t they Grown which seems to be almost the exact same storyline, just a different setting and character. Strange!
