I got the following email from a well known organization: "Your CC keeps on declining despite the fact that you had told me that it had gone through successfully at other organizations. Please call me back with the correct CC info. Thank you." Followed by a phone number.
Is this an awful tacky way of trying to raise funds? I don't have a credit card, I didn’t talk to this organization regarding my credit card, and we haven't donated to any organizations recently.
Would you respond to this email and how?

It’s either supposed to be funny (it isn’t) or it went to the wrong recipient.

I would assume it's an error, probably meant to sent to a different person

But the phone number they gave to call back is the phone number of the organization.

I would say it's spam. But if it's really the organization's phone number, then it was probably sent to the wrong email address.

That's typical of spam, trying to make it look real.

How is it spam if the real phone number of the organization is there and if I call that number I can donate to the organization?

Do I need to respond to the email or can I ignore it?

I'm sorry, I misread, I thought they were asking you to click on a link as well as offering their phone number. I'd agree with others, it's a mistake.

You don’t need to respond to the email. You can donate if you want to, but you don’t have to

Do you want to call and ask if they've been hacked/if they can get you off their list?

They probably meant to blind copy a bunch of people who did have this issue.

I think it would be nice but not necessary to let them know that they have some sort of glitch.

Spam mail doesnt just mean not real mail. It also means junk email that is sent in bulk in the hopes that at least one person will respond.
Just ignore. Ive gotten such messages in phone calls from tzedaka places. Its very annoying and not very nice to be honest.
