Pediatrician is saying just to give veggie/ fruit jars and baby oatmeal etc;
Should I be giving “ real” food as well?
Thanks in advance!

Chicken soup, mashed up with chicken and veggies or the clear soup mixed with baby oatmeal

Cholent! She loves it. Sunday night leftovers go straight to her.
Split pea soup - I hand blended it up to a smooth, thick puree and she gobbled it up.
Baby oatmeal mixed with peanut/almond butter
Meatballs - super soft, mixed with some sauce and mashed a bit

I see she likes blended soups, so I'm just gonna make all my soups, maybe add some chicken/meat, and blend it up for her.

Then blend less and less so it had more texture to practice chewing.

This, and cheerios. Thinking of starting eggs soon, too.

My 8.5 month old eats pretty much everything that we do. He does not like the texture of baby food so I just cut up small pieces of whatever we are eating except for raw fruits or veggies (choking hazard).

Ok, thanks.
I have been giving my baby regular food but the pediatrician said specifically to only give jars and oatmeal. That’s an outdated view? What do you think?

I don't use jars at all.
My 9 month old is just starting solids, but it's all real food.
Might be pureed soup or applesauce, but it also might be snacks/real cereal.
I have no reason to give food marketed for babies.
She mainly nurses anyway.

I started yogurt at 8 months. Basically my 9.5 month old eats 3 meals a day. Cereal and milk for breakfast usually cheerios, sometimes anything else that isnt a choking hazzard or full of sugar, lunch is yogurt and oatmeal and a jar or applesauce mixed. Snack some times banana. He eats anything off the floor. Honey kix which my kids didnt want he'll eat. Supper it depends, some soup or carrots. He has had chicken and sweet potatoes and scrambled eggs, amd chulent. He has eaten honey due and clementine pieces and banana pieces. Basically he nurses plenty but eats tons and is 23 pounds kh. You can basically give anything as long as not a choking Hazzard.
