I think that if I like a style I can wear it - even if it doesn’t look good on me! My way of getting old I guess: wearing what I want as opposed to what you think I should wear

So do I. Maybe op thinks they look terrible because it’s not her personal preference but to others it’s nice.

I'd rather say it's good self-esteem but I get it... Wink

If you have short hairs, you can't have a side part and a ponytail.

A center part is the default natural part for most people.

Not if you have curls!

Curly hair often doesn't have a natural part at all.

True - it does look better with a side part though. And LAYERS.

It's a mitzvah to embarrass your future self when you are approx 14-17 Wink

The center part is not newly in style. My DD has bee wearing that for 2-3 years already at least.

Yes, my daughter insists that EVERYONE wears their hair like this now. She says only the nerds don’t. I don’t want her to be a nerd but she honestly looks like one with a center part.

That is funny- it used to be the so called nerds with the center parts.

Yes, it's not new. And it's probably cheaper and easier to maintain in a sheitel. That doesn't mean it's for everyone.

Imagine how those of us feel who are watching this style trend for the second or possibly third time?!

Back in the early 70s, it became trendy following the popularity of Ali McGraw in Love Story. Of course, it looked great on Ali McGraw and other women who were beautiful for a living, but the results were somewhat mixed on the rest of us.

However, it gave mothers and daughters something to fight about while fathers and sons were arguing over the length of the sons' hair. For those who missed this era, it was generally believed among adolescents and young adults that long hair had the power to end the war in Vietnam; end poverty; end racism; and end world hunger.

And in the end, despite the fact that many people looked ridiculous, nobody died. But don't get too smug. The long, straight, center-parted hair of the late 60s/70s led to the permed "big hair" of the 80s!
