About the 3/4 year old boy.
A few things to know.
1) many playgroups, it's mixed girls and boys.
2) in Lakewood, it's usually divided into older 3 and younger 3.
When is the child's birthday? When will he turn 4?

What area are you looking for? Do you really want to go anywhere in Lakewood?

Mixed is ok.

Asking for friend who’s going to move this summer, so she wants to enroll them for next year.

Son is turning 3 in March.
Daughter is 4 now.

You need to have an area. Otherwise it could take you easily over an hour to drop off and pickup. (My dd is 1 mile away and it takes me 20 minutes each way...)
Asking for anywhere is unrealistic.

ETA: if 4 now then next year she is going to school not a morah.

If the daughter is 4 now, next September she'll be 5. That's usually primary.
Turning 3 in March means will be 3 1/2 in September. That's older 3.
What neighborhood are they looking at?

Was told that playgroup registration for next year is closed already and probably full by now. So she’ll try anyone who might have available slots.

They don’t live there yet and not sure where they’ll end up. She wants to send her daughter to a morah for 4/5 year olds because she doesn’t speak English and wants her to pick up the language before she goes to school. Is this possible?

PPl always have openings. They don’t fill up or Ppl move or someone new opens. I think it would be a bigger mistake to commit to an area that has no reason.

She will be held back a grade then.
There are groups geared to older 4. Girls that are repeating that age. But if she is a bright girl and knows her Aleph Bais she will probably be bored and not stimulated.

Right. If it takes you 20 minutes 1 mile.. that’s insane. Why 20 minutes??

Better than going to school while not being able to communicate.

Not necessarily.

There are some newer schools in Lakewood that start off with one or two grades, and are small and similar to a playgroup. It shouldn't be harder to learn English in such an environment than in a playgroup.

As long as she knows the Aleph Bais, she should be okay. Especially since many playgroups in Lakewood don't teach the ABC's in kindergarten, so many students come into Primary needing to be taught from scratch.

Oh so do you have any contact info on these schools? Will a Yiddish speaking litvish kid fit in, or it doesn’t matter because she can switch her to another school anytime. Do they give a hard time accepting kids who don’t live there yet?

I would think better to send a Yiddish speaking Litvishe kid to a Litvishe school rather than a Chassidishe school and transfer her.
The best would be if the school had a teacher or assistant who spoke reasonable Yiddish.
Besides the Yiddish, what else?
How Yeshivish? Learning? Working?
Do the parents speak English?

Working yeshivish.

They do prefer a small playgroup for older 4 year olds though. Do you think it’s reasonable to wait till they move to try to find a playgroup?

I think these are pretty major deductions. Not for a bunch of anonymous amothers to make. For the 3 ye old boy I’m not too nervous. But holding back a 4 yr old can have pretty big effect..
