I give $50.
I know there are many who give $100.
Good for them.
Whats the worst thing that will happen? The Rebbi will know we're not dripping in funds.

I gave ehre in Israel 100 Shekelwhich is much less than 50 $

I don'y even have that extra 100 NIS to give but fell it's a must

OP, if you can afford to give more, give. Send it as a Chanuka gift. I'm sure the rebbi won't mind getting another gift, lol.
