Sometimes when I look at my baby I think of how other babies who were born around the same time are being abused and it makes me so sad. Is this normal? Anyone ever think this?

Welcome to momhood. You’ll never watch a horror movie the same way again.

I agree.
It might be a very young part that identifies with the baby and feels for other babies that might be in the situation she was in.

I definitely relate. Probably from all the research I did in social work school

Not that I know of... my therapist seems to think I did (for other reasons) but we’ve never unearthed anything.

So hard to think about. My husband was neglected as a baby.

I relate. So hard to understand how someone can hurt an innocent child. I fortunately have not experience any trauma or abuse but I know of course that so many babies and children do.

Not directly but whenever I hear a sad story with a child my child's age (e.g. child left in car etc) I take it much more emotionally than otherwise.

So many beautiful young lives taken so abruptly, of no fault of their own. I just hug my own children a little tighter and ask Hashem to end the galus now....

Yes, I relate. I also think about all the little babies and toddler who nebach lost a parent, especially a mom.

Almost every time I hear my toddler crying I become super emotional because I think of those little children who cry, but have no mommy to come soothe them. And as I'm writing this the tears are welling up...

May Hashem help us all and bring the Geula already!

No, I did not go through trauma Baruch Hashem, but I know so many people who did lo aleinu!

Yes, actually. Not that she thinks it's neglect.

She told me she "trained her babies young" (newborn) she didn't feed them at night left them to cry.

Yes I think about it!
I also go crazy thinking about babies sick in hospitals. And the ones who sadly died.
Drives me crazy sometimes.

Hah so true! I used to love horror movies but ever since becoming a mom, I can't stomach them.

That is of course terrible, but it’s specifically something about parents not taking care of their children. Like the thought of a sick baby with a loving mother hugging and soothing him all the time doesn’t make me as sad. The post above about the mother who let her baby cry without feeding him literally just made me feel nauseous.

Obviously I’m only awake at this hour because I just fed my baby Very Happy

I like to keep on top of my baby’s milestones, every month I’d google, for example, “seven month old milestones”. If you google “seven month old” without the word milestones, invariably among the top results will be some horrifying news story of something that happened to a baby that age, usually extreme abuse leading to death. Don’t leave out the word “milestones”!!

When I took home my baby from the hospital, I was given instructions on what to do if I don't want the baby. OMG, did I cry for those babies whose mothers even think about the possibility.

My pediatrician says you should sleep train babies by 3 or 4 months.
