How about ticketing pedestrians?

Does anyone lobby for this? If they aren't why not?

My question is more, why doesn't anyone care?

Can any Lakewood ima chime in here with the exact road/highway names?

The only ones I've heard about are the 70 and rt. 9.

Im not sure they'll be happy to have their speed limits lowered but... let's see.

Thanks nchr.

Broadway Ave in Oak and Vine.speed limit officially 25, but even thats too fast. This is officially a residential street/Ave but gets used as a highway by default (most drivers will go through broadway to get to the 9 or to vine ave) and of course you have drivers that don't abide by the speed limit...

It's extremely dangerous for drivers to stop for pedestrians because the drivers behind them go around and can kill the pedestrian. At the end of the day, it might be hard but it's not legal to cross anywhere and wait for cars to stop for you.

They should stop for pedestrians at cross walks.

Ouch.
Are you saying that it is not only the pedestrians that are adding to the danger?

As far as I understand it's only the chassidish women with ot without strollers that are walking and crossing in areas where it is dangerous to do so.

I assumed original Lakewood families never have their children walk anywhere and this problem is new.

There are no crosswalks on rt 9. It's a highway. There are a few lights though.

Crust, I don't think you realize how big the can of worms you are opening is.

You can always start a spinoff. There's enough cyber space. Wink

Thanks for being a law abiding citizen.

This. Adding more lights would really inconvenience drivers. Except for Oak and Route 9 - I can't for the life of me understand why there's no traffic light there.

I think it is going up 2023 unless Covid pushed it back

No crosswalks by traffic lights? Of course there are. (I guess it depends where).

Lakewood is not walkable. It's just not. It's spread out and all shopping is together in a few plazas.

Again, there's enough cyber space for every single can of worms out there.

Am I wrong that it's not only about the crossing? There are no sidewalks either AFAIK.

So, in your opinion, (let's say you are the pedestrian) is there enough red lights and sidewalks next to the shopping areas?

AND there arent proper sidewalks from partial Parkview till Pinehurst going towards the nine. With that said, I have no choice, but at times need to wheel my carriage on the "gutter" so to speak, to get from home till Evergreen Plaza if I'm with my baby. It's very difficult to push a carriage on rugged terrain...

Don't you think that it is dangerous?

More importantly, do you know if anything is being done about this?

Do you really think cars stop if there is a walking guy icon?
