Not old school, I still get oral for DD. Helps better than nebulizer but it's makes her so shoo shoo and hyper.

I just got decodrine an oral steroid for my baby. I also found the cold air from the freezer really helped.

Sorry, that's actually not true.

I work in a busy pediatric practice.

The inflammation caused by croup is in the upper airway, not in the lungs. Inhaled steroids won't help much. The way to go is oral steroids (or a shot of steroids if necessary in the beginning), and it still in the mainstay treatment for croup when the natural treatments (hot steam from shower, cold air) don't work.

What happens when the oral steroids don't work?
We're finished the bottle that the dr said to give "as needed" and lo is still not any better

Sounds like you should call the doctor’s answering service!
Do you have a pulse ox to check her o2 sat?
My lo had croup last week and it was no fun!
