Nap, until what age?

My 3 year old son is in nursery, doesn’t manage without a nap!
He can get a good 12 hour night sleep yet still ask for his at 1. He is not gonna manage without it.
Is this normal? Until what age is it normal for them to need a nap?

Sounds within the range of normal to me. I'd say the same thing if you posted that your 2 year old seems to do fine without any nap. That would be within the range of normal too, I think. It's so individual. My 3 year old still naps also.

Truth be told, I think my two elementary school kids would both benefit from a 1pm nap. But unfortunately school isn't structured that way.

Wow gd bless him. Mine dropped her nap before 2 and would scream and scream and refuse for months before that

My 4.5 yo still takes naps, but doesn't always actually sleep.

My daughter is 4 and doesn't get to nap in her Kindergarten, but I'd be ok if she still got nap time, and she would love it.
She naps every Friday and Shabbos, and Sunday if our schedule allows it.
She napped every day in nursery, even though it was only her and one other kid. She needed it and the teacher was ok with it.

Most kids drop their nap between 2-4, it's very normal for a 3 year old to need a nap.

My kids all napped at age three. Once they went to kindergarten, they began growing out of it.

My kids napped till they started school. On weekends and no school days, they napped till at least age 4/5. My 7 year old still naps when there's no school. Shabbos afternoon everyone naps, regardless of age.

Given the chance, I would nap daily (and I get 8+ hours of sleep each night). Unfortunately, my work schedule doesn’t allow it.

When I do get to nap (even for only 20 minutes), I’m more focused the rest of the day.
