DD (13) was up most of the night with a stuffy/runny nose. She finally fell asleep for 2.5 hours early this morning.
She has low grade fever and was in bed most of the day but she was so uncomfortable that she couldn’t sleep.
Her neck hurts, her back hurts and she’s so congested.
I gave her an Advil cold and sinus pill this morning. It didn’t seem to do much. I gave her another one an hour ago so she can sleep but it’s not working. She’s tossing and turning and trying to clear her nose. She weighs 80 pounds. Can I give her another pill or would it be too much for her? I really want her to sleep. She is so exhausted and uncomfortable.

Switch off to tylenol since she had the advil so recently.

For tomorrow night, get her nyquil PM cold & sinus so she can get a good night's sleep.

Ask the doctor if she can take real sudafed. You have to get it behind the counter at the pharmacy. It’s the only decongestant that actually works for me

Sounds like she may need to see a doctor to confirm diagnosis and treatment. This is not just a cold.

I gave her 1/4 of a dosage of Benadryl with the Advil cold & sinus to help her sleep. (I confirmed that it’s okay to use Benadryl with the cold medicine)
She didn’t have Advil so recently. The last time she had it was at 10:00 this morning.

It might be a sinus infection. We will wait one more day before we see the doctor. It only began 3-4 days ago and they usually don’t treat it as a sinus infection so soon. The fever is very low 99.5 so it’s probably not anything more than an annoying virus. She had covid a few months ago so I’m not even thinking along those lines now.
I just need her to sleep tonight.

Is it possible that it’s a sinus infection? I second getting the real Sudafed that is kept behind the counter at pharmacy. Alternate Tylenol and Advil. Try Afrin spray (use sparingly).

I hear. There are many potential diagnoses and she sounds really uncomfortable.

Low grade fever. Could it be covid?

Advil cold and sinus has daytime and nighttime
If it doesn’t say Nighttime it has still in it that can make her stay awake
Buy something that has a day and night formula. The night time will help her sleep
Same for Sudafed and tylenol cold and sinus.
