Thanks everyone! The average bathroom cost quoted here was around what I imagined it would be. Kitchen -- I actually thought it would be higher, and I was pleasantly surprised that most of you thought it should cost around 20k. We recently did our entire basement. We did make some changes, and added another bathroom and shower for a guest room, installed a new pesach kitchen and some other changes. The total cost was 57k. It was way more than we initially expected, but we had several contractors coming in to give quotes. The one we ended up going with quoted about 40k. But once they started working, there were various 'surprises' (e.g. pipes that needed to be changed, an ancient staircase we did not know about etc) so it ended up costing more.

Where are you located? If you're in Lakewood, is your DH looking for work? Can you post a picture of the 15k kitchen he did? Thanks.

Not lakewood. In tristate area though. Its more of a side thing he does for fun so not actively looking for work...

If he ever changes his mind, he should know that contractors are in high demand in Lakewood and the surrounding areas. Thanks and good luck!

Plan well?
Cabinets from Home Depot counter tops . Paint I got from husband.
Stove already had. New hardwood floors was 2.000
I can pm before after but almost gut. I wanted to keep original 1920 bones. It looks too modern in my opinion. Little things add up from plumbers and then labour. I can look at receipt.

That kitchen cost sounds very low to me! I would get 3 quotes from contractors and cabinet companies, since cabinets are by far the most expensive piece unless you're doing structural work. That will allow you to get a realistic price range for the project and area.

oot.

We priced things in the past five years.

redoing kitchen, totally changed the existing space including breaking walls, moving a bathroom. I think it was 45k with appliances

Installing a completely new bathroom where none existed (attic/basement) I think was 10-15k, all included. It sounded like pulling the plumbing made it so costly.

If you are really looking to keep costs down, look into ready to assemble cabinets. We just did our kitchen and saved 5-7k by putting them together ourselves. It wasn't harder than a bookcase. All the hinges and parts were already attached, we just had to put it together.
