My 5 year old son seems to have nose bleeds every few days. He doesnt pick his nose and there doesn't seem to be an obvious trigger. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I speak to the doctor? I don't want to escalate it if its nothing.

Could be dryness, due to cold, heating, allergies.
Could be bp or platelet issues.
Check out by dr.

Has it always been like this, or more recent?

Have alot of experience with this. First get a platelet count; if that's fine, than 2x a day with a q-tip put in bacitracin. Got this tip from Dr. Goldsmith former head of ENT Dept in Maimonides Hospital. In addition I have dc vitamin c. You might also need to get it cauterized. Dr. Goldsmith isn't a big fan of cauterization. He had me first try the bacitracin and if that didn't work then I'd have to cauterize. Bh it worked.

Is it weather related? I put Vaseline in my son’s nose and he has a humidifier at night to prevent dryness.

He was cauterized twice and it wasn’t effective.

I put a little bit of vaseline up my son's nose before bed. Seems to help.

Just had this with one of my kids. Bactroban with Vaseline on a qtip twice a day and a vaporizer at night. If it doesn't help then an ENT will have to cautorize it. My child was getting daily even with the creams in the nose. Oy cauterizing helped. Lasted for two years and then had to do it again

When my ds had this, buying a humidifier for his room did the trick.

Had that with 2 kids. They’d wake up to a gushing nosebleed in the middle of the night. Bh they outgrew it.
