When does quarantine start?

My mom watched my kids on Wednesday and Thursday last week. I dropped them off and my husband picked them up. We went over on Shabbos.

Turns out that my mom was exposed to someone with covid on Tuesday. That person first tested positive on Motzaei Shabbos, as did my mother. Her symptoms had technically started on Thursday night, but they were so mild that she brushed them off as the same thing my siblings had earlier in the week when they tested negative for covid. They became more noticeable while we were there.

Obviously, we're in quarantine now. My question is when the ten days start (the doctor told my family 10 and not 14). Also, should we get tested today or wait a little longer until our actual exposure to my mother while she was experiencing symptoms?

I know, I know I should ask the doctor, but he's a pain in the neck to reach.

I would assume If symptoms started Thursday night, then that’s when you start counting.

That was my mother's symptoms, though- but technically we weren't exposed to her once symptoms showed up until Shabbos day.

It sounds like Thursday. Why get tested as long as iyh you're asymptomatic?

Your quarantine is from your last exposure so that would be shabbos.
