I figured out that my son has this-
The two main areas it affects him is
He has trouble with math
Difficult time with directions-gets lost
In general he is bright, social and talented
Anyone have experience with this?
What is the best way to help him?

Definitely get him formally evaluated so he can get extra help and accomodations in school.

there are therapists who specialize in this, like speech therapists but dir dyscalcylia. maybe somebody can recommend a good one. its also important for you to talk with that therapist and understand what is it all about.
there are also kind of games on the phone and computer especially for discalculia, in mathematics, google which one is the best at the moment. Ask your son if he has troubles understanding what time is it, if so, buy a digital clock. definitely ask the school for help.

There are most likely therapists that help with this issue.
But also from the way you describe DC, also get him evaluated for dyspraxia. It causes both issues, (as someone with dyspraxia) while I'm not sure dyscalculia alone also causes directional issues. Does he have any other spatial difficulties?

Why would dyscalculia cause trouble with directions?
For math, making math real is a program that’s the orton gillingham equivalent for math. As for directionality, I would guess that’s an OT issue. S’cool moves might be a good program for that.
(As with all brain mapping type therapies, you first want to address and physiological issues with brain function. And the way to healing the brain is by healing the gut.)

Has he been evaluated and diagnosed? Dyscalculia and disgraphia are linked but dysgraphia is more likely to explain issues with direction.
