What type of candelabra do you light in your home for shabbos? Although I don’t particularly love silver (or the cost), I don’t know of any other good options.

Many people use crystal candelabras these days. I saw one in my local Judaica store. Very pretty and you don't have to polish it!

I’ve seen the crystals and some of them are very pretty... but they break too frequently imo. Or is that only my experience? They’re not so inexpensive as to justify the cost of replacing every year or two. On the other hand, I love that they don’t need polishing.
Anyone know of other options?

My sister has some rather beautifully carved wooden ones. You can't put candles directly into them of course, but they work well with the glass cups. I think they are weighted at the base to make them more stable.

Candlesticks are made in ceramic, glass, crystal, porcelain, wood, aluminum, chrome-plate, brass, brass plate and silverplate as well as silver. I'm willing to bet that they're made in copper, too, though I've never looked for any. Go with what you like. If you tend to drop things, metal or wood are your best bet, though you can get inexpensive glass or china candlesticks, too. Check out ethnic shops, second-hand shops or import places like Pier One (may it rest in peace).

I use an assortment of Shabbos candlesticks: brass, gold-plated, copper, pewter, crystal, glass, and silver (my least favourite because they tarnish).

I started out married life with brass. My mom also had brass candlesticks as well as the rebetzen that taught me while I was becoming frum. I still love all of my brass candlesticks. I did make sure my daughters and daughters-in-law had silver. It’s what they wanted. One changed to crystal. Btw, I inherited my great-grandmother’s brass candlesticks from Europe.
