I heard/maybe googled that going from frozen to cooked is fine as long as it’s at a normal/high temperature.
Meaning I would roast frozen chicken but not put frozen chicken in my soup which cooks on low for a few hours

Yeah, should be fine as long as it is cooked all the way through.

I have done it but hated the texture. If I forget to defrost chicken I now save it for the next night and serve something else instead.

Thank you! I was getting so nervous that it could be dangerous... now I can serve dinner with good conscience!!!

Even if you bring the soup to a boil first?

What you should not do is put a STUFFED frozen bird in the oven without first thawing, because the stuffing will stay cooler longer than the meat, and bacteria from the bird's juices will have the perfect environment in which to live long and prosper.
