Yes but it's not every week. I didn't pay attention exactly how often but I don't think it's even every other week.

I think it's every other week. I know the author who writes up the stories and it was too much work to do it weekly.

It runs every other week, switching off with the column double take. That's a fictional story that follows two different people in one story.

I never realised double take was fictional! I always wondered how they had both sides to the story and that both sides were prepared to slag the other off! Makes sense now!

I think I read once that a byline that says "family story" or "as told to" is a true story.

I also thought Double Take was True Story.

Especially as it alternates with Lifelines which is a True Story.

Should I start a spinoff with a PSA? Att everyone: Double Take is a FICTIONAL STORY!!! I wonder if all the people who write heated letters to the editor realize it's fictional. I always take those letters with a grain of salt, because we're not talking about real people, but what if the letter writers don't realize?

If it's fictional, why doesn't it say fiction? If a it doesn't say fiction on a story, I assume it's real.

They definitely explained when they were starting the column that it's a fictional story written by two authors each week. I don't know what it says these days since I don't usually get the mishpacha. Anyone wants to buy a subscription for me?

They've definitely pointed out a number of times that it's fictional.

Most fiction is actually based on a true story the author either experienced herself or heard about
from others, or read about, etc.

I wrote a letter which they published about one of the stories fully knowing the stories are fictional. It was the story about the rebbe who was giving underage bochrim alcohol at his house shabbos night. Even though these things are fiction, I know they all happen in real life (that's what makes it so relatable to us readers) and I wanted to voice my opinion on the matter of a non-parent/guardian giving alcohol to a minor with or without the parents knowledge. It is illegal. Fictional or not, a magazine with a (supposed) rabbinical board should not write about illegal things, much less glorify it, and that is what I said in my letter.

I assume the people who write in do it for the same reasons as me.

It's a shame; such a missed opportunity to get people to learn to JUST COMMUNICATE. Each story should include when person A tells person B what is bothering them... people will learn from that.
