Find a trauma therapist that specializes in all the modalities and work from there. EMDR was great for me but won't work for everyone. The main thing is to work with a trauma therapist and she will help you.

Everyone's different, but I couldn't have just walked in and started on an EMDR protocol. EMDR was very helpful for me, but only in the context of a very solid relationship with my therapist. It wasn't the only technique she used to help me.
