I am yeshivish and do a 2 on my husband and boys.

So chassidish would be shorter

Maybe try a 1, and if you want to go shorter, move on to 1/2?
Definitely start longer and work your way down.

my dh does a0 but its to short for a 3year old and its etchy hes kappel should not have to stick on to the head

I’m Chasidish and I did a 3 in my blond son. I didn’t want him looking bald. Now that he’s older and a little darker I do a 2.

The number on a hair cutting machine is different depending on how many numbers there are. For example, a machine that has numbers 1-10 and a machine with numbers 1-15 —-> a number 3 on each machine will be a different length. It has to do with the machine.

To answer your original question, I am yeshivish out of town type and my boys get a number 3 haircut on my machine. Sometimes a 2 if I want it to last longer.

I started with the ikippah 4 slice size 3 for shabbos.
Hoffman’s 6 slice size 4 it’s a little bigger for cheder.

I do number 2 usually. The kid has dark hair and it grows fast. Love ikippah company- fits well on his head. Not washable really though

with the label on the edge I dont know what compeny makes it a lot of chasidish kids have it it fits so good its soft velvet so it adjusts with the head.

I buy Hoffman’s and they are washable.
What does the label on the kappel say?
