Yes, my son had an abcess in his diaper area when he was a few montgs old. Doctor drained it and bH it healed beautifully.

Yes, it really is. But I think they feel some relief as soon as it is drained. I hope your baby feels a lot better and heals quickly! Refuah sheleima

Refuah shleimah! It is a painful process, but a huge relief after. One of my children had one at age 2.5 that required incision and draining. The hospital staff was amazing, but it was still scary.

Yes we had incison and draining in the hospital very scary. Davening it does not come back and a relief to know its not uncommon

Very common
Did the dr give him antibiotic cream and by Mouth?
Keep the area as dry and clean as possible. Change him often.
Use MR cream on the area and anywhere use see a pimple or rash after each diaper change Or on any other body part, to prevent recurrence

My baby had it at two weeks old, I just applied loads of coconut oil by every change it dried up and disappeared after two weeks.

Dealt it with it way too many times to count with different kids. There’s usually instant pain relief as soon as cut and drained.

You can make it form a head and drain it yourself by covering it with prid, honey flour dough or MR cream with plastic and or tape
