I am yeshivish and wear short sleeve pajamas with long pants but my kids are getting older and I dont know if it's appropiate to wear that in front of them. When I go out of the room I put on a sweatshirt and a skirt but they do sometimes walk in my room and see me in my pajamas. SHould I be switching to a nightgown? I really dont want to but would do it if I felt like it's the right thing.
thanks!

If you feel it would be the right thing, then go for it.
I wear nightgowns because I am not comfortable, tznius-wise, walking around in pants/short sleeves. And I do walk around my house in PJs frequently and have no interest in changing or wearing another layer (bathrobe) every time my baby cries and I need to leave my bedroom.

I don't change into pjs until I go to sleep.
I change into clothes first thing in the AM.
I wear sweatpants and a T-shirt to sleep.
If my kids knock on my door while I am settling down or in the middle of the night I keep the blanket over me.
In an emergency I run out in those clothes.

My oldest is 10 I try to be pretty covered around him but not 100% like if I was leaving the house. I have a bunch of these soft foldover skirts from a pregnancy and a couple maxi skirts that I retired from outdoor clothing that I wear with a tee shirt and hoodie. I like the hoodie so I can loosely cover my hair after I shower without putting on a snood. Its a nice middle ground tznius and comfort wise.

Tznius nightgown. I have teenager boys who are up and around all the time and changing when I want to leave my room is a pain.

If I were you, I'd work on getting my kids not to walk into my room.

no, I feel like that's not right. I would do it before I go to sleep but not for the whole night.

You can wear long sleeve nightie with leggings.
My bedroom door is always wide open and my kids don't come in. They stand by the door and call me.
I don't leave my room without a robe over my pj's.

I wear baggy pants (not tight leggings), short sleeve T-shirt and then a huge (men’s 2XL) hoodie. The hoodie hangs to mid thigh, and I also use the hood to cover my hair instead of snood or tichel.

I didnt have children for many years. When I had my oldest I took upon myself to wear nightgowns.
It depends on what you are comfortable with your kids seeing. My kids always see me tznius but they have seen pajama pants under nightgowns and my hair bc my hair seems to reject tichels during the night.
I do like never having to think about if Im dressed enough to leave my room.

I find even tznius nightgowns a problem as I don’t like wearing a bra at night and my nipples pokes through... my boys are teens already

That's why I don't leave my room without a robe on.
