We'll be going to my parents, and I'll be responsible for the meat course. My mother gave me a couple of beef shanks and some minute steaks. I'm not super comfortable cooking meat yet, so I'd love some recipes.
No wine or tomato sauce, please.

For minute steak, slice up lots of onions and garlic and put in a pan. For garlic I put aprox 1 garlic per steak. Sprinkle salt. Put steak on top. Sprinkle salt again. Put onions again on top and if you like, pepper strips. Put in a little water probably abt 1/2 cup for 8 portions (I gave you this estimate because that's how much I do) Cover very tightly and bake on 300 for a god 3-4 hours. After abt 2 hours check the liquid. It should constantly be in some liquid. I also after abt 2 hours turn over the steak so the other side should be immersed in the liquid some of the time.
