I would imagine it depends on how chunky the salsa is.

The way I make mine, it would be ha'Adamah because you can definitely see the pieces of tomato and that is the majority of the salsa.

Of course I also have a few fruit salsa recipes, so... you know...

even if it's thin, if it's obviously tomato, wouldn't it be ha'adamah anyway ?

Would you bless Ha'adamah on ketchup? I don't think so (I think I looked that one up once)

But you don't eat ketchup the same way you would salsa.

Yeah I would. I mean, would you eat salsa with a spoon? I eat it as dip, as I would ketchup.

I use the chip as a spoon... I also eat the chips and salsa for both the enjoyment of both the chips and the salsa.

I have yet to eat a sandwich or french fry for the enjoyment of the ketchup though. (I also have yet to put as much ketchup on a french fry that it would warrant it's own Bracha)

Can we think of any substance that is smooth that would be haadamah/haetz vs shehakol? Think of thick soups, smoothies...AFAIK, they're all shehakol.

I wouldn't make a separate bracha if eating with chips or in a tortilla, but I have been known to eat it plain, hehe. Also yummy if you stir a bit of sour cream or gevina lavana into it, creamy and hot, so good!

BTW, a lot of the tortilla chips out there are actually adama since they are made from squished corn, not corn flour so you might want to check on that. That's why I make adama when I eat chips and salsa. Smile

Not so many blue foods out there . . . good luck, hehe.

actually, according to many it's shehakol, if you can't see any pieces of fruit in it.
