It dawned on me today
Yom Kippur, we feast for a day then fast for a day
Purim, we fast for a day then feast for a day
Maybe, they are opposite forms of simcha and connection. Mirror images of one another.
Any more comparisons?

The 'pur' that was cast on Purim and the 'goral' that was cast to select the שעיר לעזעזל on Yom Kippur.
Theme of 'מי יודע" that appears in the book of Yonah, read at mincha of Yom Kippur and in Megilat Esther. Both hinting at Hashem's involvement in man's fate even in events that might seem coincidental but at the same time highlighting man's responsibility to rise to the occasion and join with Hashem to enact a positive change. Basically refuting the pagan conception of random 'fate' over which man has no power.

On yk, we meet our king face to face (avinu malkeinu). On Purim, we find our king hidden in the story (hamelech in the megillah means Hashem)
