Cheapskate Tomato Soup

Quick and easy! Gleaned from one of the cheapskate magazines . . .

6 oz. tomato paste in can
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. celery seed
24 oz. milk - refill tomato paste can four times

Put tomato sauce in small saucepan. Add milk, salt, celery salt. Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Of course, you can double or quadruple the recipe, depending on how much tomato paste you have . . . and people to serve.

I do a similar soup, with a can of tomato juice, and water instead of milk. I add either rice or egg drops, and sugar, salt and pepper.

Is the pareve version just as good? How do you get it to taste like soup and not like you are eating sauce in a bowl? hehe.

No, making it pareve isn't good at all.

The pareve is good, CM. I do it all the time. I make sure to add a lot of sugar, salt and pepper and also add rice or egg drops. It's not eating sauce in a bowl.

I saute galic and onions before adding the tom. sauce and add 1 can of water or rice milk for Pareve. It is great, we usually serve it with deli sand. or grilled cheese (we are a dipping family and it goes really well with fleish or milk sand!)
