Yair

I love the meaning, the sound, that it is in Tanach!

But
1) I’m worried non-Jewish people will look at it and assume it rhymes with “Chair” (I don’t love apostrophes in names, and I don’t know if spelling it “Ya’ir” will help much anyway)

2) my mom’s last serious boyfriend before my father, that my father knew socially and was super jealous of, was named Yair.

Every single name on the girls' list is in use in my immediate family!!
Sisters/daughters/nieces. And we are not a large family. Funny!

I also like the name Ora but only in Hebrew. The English spelling bugs me for some reason. I want it to start with an A, like Aura. I met someone who spells it like that actually. I like it.

For boys: Betzalel, Elimelech, Shaya, Shalom. I REALLY like Shalom.

Yes, but the city is named for the Roman emperor Tiberius, who exiled the Jews from Rome and is generally considered a bad guy.

I'm charedi. I know people with a good number of those names. For sure the girls ones.

Personally, I really like מורן and שחר, but neither works in English at all. My husband and I both want a Rosie, which would also be strange in Hebrew. רוזי. Definitely would raises eyebrows.

I know a frum girl named Kate! She loves her name and finds it amusing that it's so unique in the frum world but so common in the secular.

I like a lot of the old-fashioned English and American names - Margaret, Jane, Catherine, Nancy.

I name after family (and some of those names are actually my grandparent's or parent's names), so none of this is actually happening, but I love:

Ahuva
Shalva
Hadassah
Tikvah

Akiva
Hillel
Levi Yitzchak
Daniel
Binyamin

There are more, but those are pretty names off the top of my head.
