I love love women singing. I enjoy it much more then listening to a mans sing.
I wanted to get a cd for myself because I haven't in years and I can't even find my kinnert, julia bloom, and neshamah C. I went to gal paz and at first I though wow gorgeous music when the song started and then I heard the voice........ Yuck! (childish word I know). I just couldn't listen. Anyways this was not supposed to be a vent on my likes and dislikes but rather does anyone have a singer they can recommend?
The next time I go I'll ask to listen to a demo by your recommendations.
Thanx

Chava Alberstein (or Albertstein, I never know) - only the Yiddish stuff, I dislike the rest
Talila (from Talila and Ben Zimet) - Yiddish
Tanja Solnik - very very polyvalent, she sings in Hebrew, Yidish and Ladino!

in the modern:
Sarit Haddad - Hebrew
Justyna Steczkowska - very original, she sings in Polish, Yiddish and Hebrew, and translates Yiddish, Hebrew and Ladino songs to Polish! I only like some of her songs though

Women sing nicer than men. PERIOD.
Of course there are men singers who sing beautifully but on a whole nothing compares to a women's voice. I guess that's why there's kol isha.

Sorry, I don't have any recommendations because I love to sing and listen to myself Smile . If I ever give out a CD I'll let you know Wink

Thank you for all the suggestions. I should add unless its absolutely a gorgeous/moving Hebrew song. I do prefer English.

Yentatainment is all English and I think 2 Yiddish songs..but it's not emotionally stunning..its funny but happens to be Leah has a great voice.
And I'm not promoting this CD or a/thing..just happen to like and find it aidel enough for my taste.

dieting is sooo out of the traditional realm LOL

I personally do not know many songs in English or French with a Jewish theme... I posted those I knew in another thread a long time ago. Now, songs by Jewish singers with no Jewish theme, there are many.

I love women singing too! I have to tell you though that the students of the local singing school are taught to wiggle their voice like opera singers and they do not focus on actually carry a tune, so stupid! Well anyway, I like kineret and here’s my dream:

About 20 years a go there was a concert and this lady “Ashira” sang. There were no Cd’s released, and I can trace her down! She was from Israel and san gin NY. Her songs are “Ayeles Hashachar, star of the moooooooorning……….” oh PLEASE somebody say you know who this Ashira is?
