Do most chassidishe bochurim, in mainstream yeshivos, have their own (kosher) cell phones?

Very big red flag if a bachur has a cellphone. |
Huh?
And I was going to say yes!
My bochurim have their their own phones, both the one in yeshiva gedola and the one in yeshiva ketana. I believe most of their friends do. They even have texting. Of course, it's not allowed in yeshiva.

I work in a chassidish school in bp. Every assistant age 18 has a kosher flip phone. Every.

I guess it depends on the community then. Definitely not allowed in mine, even for girls except for a type.
I will edit my comment to remove that word since I wouldn't have written it if I knew she was speaking about her son.

I think so.
ETA to those who say no, no way... Our family used to have one phone called the "kids phone" which was shared by 4 teens. But now, since corona-school, each kid has a phone

My 7th grade daughter has a phone, as do most of her classmates (chassidish). She doesn’t take it to school.

Her own phone? Or an extra spare “ house cell phone “?

OK we don't even allow 7th graders to have a camera or mp3 (although some classmates do not all) so this is just really not relatable for me.

Yes, since Covid when everyone was home people stocked up on 3-4 kosher phones for phone learning.
This caused all the bucherim to keep their own phone until now.
Up until last year it was quite frowned upon For young bucherim.
(These are not allowed in yeshiva, only for the house)

My two bucherim have a kosher flip phone with no text.
They don’t take it to yeshiva
They’re chasssidish (awesome!) boys.
Ages 15 and 17

What do they need a cellphone for? Sounds like an unnecessary expense to me.

I'm guessing it's used mostly as an extra phone line in the house. (Or while running errands for mom.) In my days, most families had at least two phone lines. Today, it's one phone line plus cell phones.

No, I don’t know any chassidish boys that have their own phones. Yes during corona I got an extra 2 kosher flip phones, no text, for learning but now only one is activated for the spare family phone to do errands or a spare for at home. Any kid can use it, though during bein hazmanim my bucher uses it most of the time. I’m neutral chassidish, not any specific chassidus.

Its definitely getting more and more common.
Some parents allow with text while others only talk.

What are you talking about? Is this something new?
I was in 8th grade 12 years ago and most of my class has digital cameras.
I am from Williamsburg.
In high school many girls had MP3s.
Family Cell phones where starting to come in then, and all my classmates had one by the time I graduated.
Most Yeshiva Gedola boys have cell phones today. ESPECIALLY since Covid.
Maybe ask your teenage brothers about it.
