Hi, we needed to send records to specialist in a busy hospital, and the secretary handling this took care of it in such a timely fashion, even responding to emails during the evening.
Would like to send her chocolates. how much is appropriate to spend? I really do appreciate her diligence, however if I spend $50 on every nurse and receptionist, we will be broke before our medical saga even begins...

would this seem appropriate?

Thank you

Any token of gratitude will be appreciated. You can also reach out to her supervisor to share your positive experience. These actions are worth more than the $ amount.

Lovey idea, I would not send that. It looks like a display to be shared with an entire office. I would send smaller and nicely wrapped. It is a thank you for her and to show hakarat hatov. You can send much smaller as it should look personal. Also, it is not payment, you can spend a little as you can find-it is just to show her that you are thinking of her and appreciate her efforts and don’t take her for granted.

ETA-definitely reach out to supervisor to commend her!!

I think it’s a lovely gesture when someone has so gone out of their way for you. I agree that sending her chocolates to the office would make it something she would probably feel compelled to share with the office as typically people send food gifts to medical staff to be shared.

I know some people think that gift cards aren’t personal but I think you can’t go wrong with a gift card from Amazon because the person is not limited to a store and can get exactly what they want. I would much rather get an Amazon gift card than almost anything unless the person really knew exactly what I wanted or neede.

Gift cards do need to be declared on taxes and with the company. They may look like briber/paying extra for a concierge service. Go with a small fancy chocolate-maybe 2-4 large truffles, or I saw on Amazon but don’t know how to link, a Godiva mug with a few different treats inside. Write a note-this is the most important part.
Dear Emily,
I cannot begin to express my gratitude for your going above and beyond the call of duty to assist me and to take care of everything so quickly. Your caring has made this difficult/stressful/uncertain time a little less stressful and challenging. You are a brightness in the dark. I just wanted to send you a small treat, it appreciation to make sure that you know how valued and helpful you are. Thank you.

Clearly I am not from the writers, but you get the idea.
