Shapewear compresses nerves, organs and blood vessels, and it can weaken core muscles, leading to back pain.

There are occasions and reasons to wear shapewear, and if a person is aware of the downsides but still wants to wear it, that's a valid decision. But it is very sad that society pressures some people who wouldn't really be willing to squeeze themselves in because their bodies are stigmatized.
