If I put pyrex on plata before it turns on, is it safe to use? Meaning, let the Pyrex heat gradually on the plata as the plata heats up?

I've done it, don't know if it's safe or not but mine didn't crack.

I wouldn't. I've seen pyrex accidentally placed on turned-off but still-warm glass cooktop explode into a million pieces.

Sure, I do it all the time. I make sure to take it out of the fridge early enough that it fully comes to room temp, then put it on the plata before it turns on.
