Not the fish sauce as you know it. She means the jelled broth from cooking fish slices and gefilte fish.

I use ishtenem when I'm trying to do something and it's not going. Or when frustrated.

Me too. But I have no idea what it means 😂

My addition to this thread would be:

Kopiste shtayasta

Let’s see if anyone can get this one 🤣

(It’s cabbage with noodles.)

My husbands grandmother does this. It drives me insane. She runs after my kids yelling “pussi, pussi” I want to die of embarrassment.

I didn't get it because, like so many of the words above, it's not spelled or spaced correctly. (I wouldn't spell it correctly either, but I do know that kaposta is cabbage because of a dirty hungarian song my beloved grandma (nagymama) taught me.

It's kapostash taysta (transliterated from káposztás tészta)

Fakanal is a wooden spoon (used to scare children or hit them)

I still say pongyolat - robe
paroka - wig

I don't use a lot of Hungarian words myself, but I understand some as I had 4 grandparents and both parents born in Hungary.

Did anyone else ever think that Hungarian speakers were always yelling at each other? Or was that just in my house?

Tzumi - pacifier

Bundash - French toast

Very strange subset of words you have selected.

Since you posted this is under "Vacation and Travel," I assumed you wanted to know Hungarian phrases like, "Where is the bathroom?" or "How much does this cost?"
