I was browning ground meat and it had a weird smell while it was cooking. I tasted it when it was done and it had a slight taste of that weird smell. My husband said it tasted fine. I smelled the package and it smelled fine so seems like the smell was released only while cooking...
Does this mean the meat was spoiled? It looked fine and smelled fine raw...
I've had this happen to me too. I've had chopped meat smell stronger or a bit more 'livery' that what I'm used to.
As long as the date was good and it was stored correctly I wouldn't worry.
I think that because we're talking about ground meat, it might be that they used a different cut.
Each cuts smells somewhat differently when cooked.
