Any non-dollar store options will do. Carter's, Macy's, even amazon

Where are you located? What are you into? More practical/more stylish and trendy/cheap?
I have a lot of recommendations but some people might snear at the higher priced items I would post, if its interesting I will post.
I just feel like when my baby is dressed cute, I feel good, even if its the undershirt nobody sees but me.
Also gender?

I use mostly hand-me-downs. But I am happy for anyone who gets Carters or Gucci undershirts too! The main thing is to do it because YOU want to, not because you think your baby needs it. Trust me, your baby is happy to be dry and warm and fed, and doesn't really care what it is wearing.

So my suggestion would be to get a pack of Carters newborn undershirts, and one of Chili-n-Cholent's fancy ones. Then you can see for yourself what your baby style is.

For swaddles I don't think there is a "best." Some like the ones with velcro (so easy!) others like the miracle blanket (flexible and no loud velcro noises) and still others just like the muslin blankets (breathable and so useful).

ETA: I think what I'm trying to say is that there is no "best." There isn't even just one best for you! There are a few bad ones (like dollar store undershirts), and lots and lots of good ones. So explore! Try them out! See what you think! And feel free to try another one afterwards! (That goes for baby clothes, strollers, and even parenting methods.)

My favorite undershirts for boys are the Petit clair ones as they are the only company that makes spaghetti straps for boys, every other company somehow thinks they're girlish but those cute chubby hands sticking out!!!! They are pricey but I wait for them to go on sale and buy in bulk.
https://petitclair.com/collect.....65508
http://babyjay.com/sleeveless-bodysuits/ Baby Jay are also great quality and can be found in most baby stores
Towels, I love any hooded ones, for example https://www.thebabygiftbox.com.....-grey
https://www.thebabygiftbox.com.....-legs
Hats- if you mean indoor hats both beanies and bonnets are in. Many footies come with matching hats but here are some that you can buy separatly.
https://www.lillegsbaby.com/co.....56993
https://www.lillegsbaby.com/co.....59553
https://elysandco.com/collecti.....white This one is great for the hospital, they make them extra small
Blankets-for the lightweight ones I usually used the ones that came with the matching sets or a large muslin swaddle like this one https://www.adenandanais.com/s.....-9211
For a thicker heavier one I like the Winx+Blinx ones like this one (they are in most Jewish baby stores) https://www.thebabygiftbox.com.....-grey
Or Peluche which is a little more expensive but even softer and nicer quality https://www.littleloungersbaby.....anket
Swaddles-there are so many different styles- for the soft muslin self tying ones Aden+Anais, which I linked above is great, they're super soft and breathable
I also like the Freshly Picked one, its a different style where the baby has a band around his arms
https://Messed.com/coll.....addle

All these links are to great websites, these are just a sample of what's out there, I would browse the websites for other styles and many of these brands can be found in Jewish stores as well.
Bsha Tova and Hatzlacha!
Let me know if you have any more questions, this is one of my favorite things to do, browsing without spending...

These are my favorites-
H&M undershirts (onesies)
Aden and Anais Muslin blankets (swaddles)
Pottery Barn towels and warmer blankets
My babies don't like hats so I don't have much experience with them.

Right at the beginning, you just need a good stock of supplies incase your prince does a lot of spit up, leaks at the other end or any other accidents. I like buying a couple of cheap multipacks of undershirts etc, so I have a good supply, also then I don't mind if it gets stained and I just throw it out.
I love the all in one fake outfit babygros. They look really cute and like the baby is more dressed and they're comfortable.
Don't feel like you need to buy masses of things now. The shops will still be open after the baby is born, and when they're a few weeks/months old.

If you’re looking for more budget friendly...
I had a baby recently and got most basics from target. Their Carter’s onesies are great, cloud island baby towels (single one, not 3 pack which look thinner) are nice and soft, and the cloud island sleepers are really cute and can’t beat the price on a 3 pack! The swaddle-me worked well for us, easy to open and close. But it depends on your baby, each one has their own preference.
For the first month or two they can live in sleepers but its always nice to have a few “nicer” outfits which you can find at the Jewish stores (lil legs etc).

My best tip is to have everything ready so that when you come home you don’t have to worry about a thing other than resting.

I make 2 baskets with the basics- diapers, wipes, changing pad and nipple shields, water bottles and snacks. One I keep on the lining room couch and one in my bed.

You don’t need to buy tons of strechies and towels because you’ll will probably get them as gifts.

- NB diapers, wipes, baby powder, changing pad
- shampoo baby wash and lotion
- nail scissors, brush
- burp cloths
- undershirts
- few strechies
- few blankets
- bottles and bottle cleaner and formula
- nipple cream, nipple shield (if needed)
