I decided to try something different and make pickled fish.
The recipe states to boil the fish, and only afterward to pour on the marinade and refrigerate for two days.
It's a ketchup based marinade which calls for 1tbsp of pickling spice. (It doesn't get simmered, it's mixed up cold)
Do I just add it straight to the sauce or will we be spitting out bits of spice as we eat?
I considered a herb bag but the flavor wouldn't infuse as well since it will just be sitting in the fridge.
TIA!

It works well with an herb bag.
