Would you also eat kosher taste??
I heard that it might be from the same plant as bodek. Anyone know?
I received a bag of shredded cabbage and would make coleslaw if I could verify the kashrus.

What is the hechsher? Why would someone go through all the effort to make a kosher produce plant and have it not be kosher? It’s a niche market.
Plus shredded cabbage is an easier kind of veggie I think.

We eat kosher taste cuz of the hechsher . but their stuff never looks fresh so we hardly buy it. So end up getting positive or bodek.

I actually just asked a rov today. I asked rabbi Nathanson who works in kashrus. He said that shredded cabbage and coleslaw are good without a hechsher, as long as it’s not organic and it’s triple washed or thoroughly washed. Though he did warn me that some seasons there are infestations, currently they’re fine

I only eat Kosher Garden/Bodek/Positiv for lettuce (actually only Positiv and Kosher Garden for Romaine lettuce) . But for cabbage, I was told Kosher Taste is fine. Cabbage is less infested. I just received some cabbage from the school distributions, and asked a shaila...

I eat Positive and Kosher Garden also. I do not use Bodek. I try to buy products that are greenhouse grown only. Bodek is NOT Greenhouse grown.

Re: triple washed lettuce. I once found more than a few aphids in a bag. I was so grossed out! The bag had all kinds of heksherim, but it wasn't enough.
From then on, I buy regular lettuce and check it all for myself. It's worth a few extra minutes, and I feel a lot more comfortable.
For cabbage, even if it has a heksher, I would rinse it well and spin dry before using. Even if there's no bugs, it will help crisp it up.
(Be aware the anything precut has been treated with a chemical that keeps the cut edges from turning brown, and to help extend shelf life. It's healthier to use whole produce anyway, and avoid the processing.)
