Title says it all
Moving in about a month.
Trying to be on top of situation & trying not to be super overwhelmed
Any books to recommend?
Or any imas out there that can give me tips? And advice?
Ie
How to pack drapes? If I wash now I’d have to hang back up to dry.... so counterproductive
Or... pictures. How to pack those?
Any and all advice would be appreciated

All crystal, glass, dishes, silver like candlestick should be wrapped in newspapers or towels to prevent them from breaking. Even this way they did break the dishes/platters I got as a Kallah.
Take your documents like birth certificates, marriage license, kesuba... and jewelry with you separately. It should not be around when the movers are in your house.
Get insurance from the movers if they break or damage anything.
Get a referral from the company. Compare hourly Ta the versus flat rate. Hourly you pay for lunch break and they take their time. Flat rate they try to speed it up.
Boxes, some grocery stores charge a minimal fee. Some moving companies give it for free, others charge.

This is how to pack dishes: pile them in a box with a styrofoam plate between each one. Fill the rest of the boxes with towels(that will need to be packed anyways).
I did this and didn’t have any broken dishes.

Agree. I think it’s some of the best money you can spend. Obviously not everyone can afford it but I would really try to swing it if possible. Will literally save weeks of your life

I never understand. People pay 1/2 a million dollars, 3/4 million dollars for houses but they’ll scout the streets for free moving boxes? For a little bit more than the cost of moving the professionals (literally!) can do all the packing for you. I can’t believe THIS is where people decide to be cheap

I don’t understand... the movers pack your belongings?
& unpack your toys & clothes ??
Same moving company that moves for you?

It doesn’t cost they much more than moving.
Ask your Mover
But if you can’t afford it it’s not for you.
