We are considering a house near a horse farm. Anyone have experience how bad the smell gets in the summer months? Anyone know someone we can speak to about this? TIA.

My son's yeshiva was next to a horse farm. Besides for the smells, he also used to complain that there were a lot of big flies around.

Which way do the winds prevail? If you could figure that out, it would help. Also, how many horses on how much land? The more crowded the more concentrated the manure smell. If they don’t have a good manure removal system, then there will be a smell. Horse farm is way better than dairy farm and most certainly way better than pig farm!

How close is the farm. Near can be next door or it can be somewhere in the vicinity.
Also what facility is close to you. Is it a field or the riding ring or is it the barn. That would make a big difference since being close to a field is not the same as being close to the barn.
I used to ride and so all of that makes a big difference.
But as others have said, the only way to determine is to go there on a warm afternoon and see what it is like.

It is in back of the farm. The race track is nearby - not the barn.
I will go and check it out on a warm afternoon.
How do I determine how the wind will blow??
