How long is too long?
Does it make any difference if the child is traveling by car or public transport?

Depending on the child, between 30 minutes and 1 hour.

About a ten minute school bus ride, but with traffic sometimes 20 - 30 minutes.

Lkwd. Oldest on bus - bh end of the route way there 15-20 mins. Way home it’s a mini bus with just primary. Prob 10 mins.
4 year old. Goes next door. 1 min
Baby- have a babysitter in house. No commute

either walkable or around 5 minute drive. proximity of school to neighborhood was a big factor when choosing where to live for us.

For us, it's 10-12 minutes by car one way.

My HS DD is on the bus 45-50min minimum. My boys are on the bus 25min, and my elementary school girls 40 min

I think in nj law is 60 min max
I think that is why Jackson and Toms River cant/won’t give routes when it will take longer.

They have a breakfast period that runs from whenever the kids get there until a certain time. Depends on the grade. So not exactly, no.

Most are not anywhere near 60 more like max 45 I don't think that's the reason

A whole range.
My oldest wanted to go to his top choice school, even though it's 3-4 hours round trip daily. He knew what he was getting into and has no regrets.
My second oldest also had her heart set on a specific high school. Her commute is about 2.5 hours round trip daily, and she's the last pickup on the bus!
The next 2 go 20 minutes each way (elementary and HS), and the youngest 2 have a 15 min and a 7 min drive.

Mine have a 10 minute drive. There is no bus this year. But when they took the bus home last year, it was about 20 minutes or so.
