My 18 year old daughter needs some clarity . She is an extraordinary girl. She and I f eel it's best for her to talk to someone to help her have some guidance . I can give more details if needed. She doesn't want a social worker. More like an insightful wise, older woman. I suggested rebetzin bassie Cohen but she feels like she would be too intimidating For her . Any tips?

Mrs Yael kaisman is a great one. You think she would be available for private time?
also I ddont think she would be open to a coach. She speçificaly asked for a bubby so she can be comfortable with.

Yeah, but she has to look like a bubby or rebetzzin...For her to feel comfortable. Not just a "grandma". . Some look young and with it and that won't work for her.

That's a very specific request.
Why does she "need" a bubby to feel comfortable?
Is this clarity for shidduchim?

Does it have to be in person, or can it be over the phone?

It probably can be over the phone. But I don't think this is a one time thing. I think she needs someone who can guide her and be there for her on a constant basis.

At 18 does she need guidance for shidduchim? Maybe she just needs time.

I agree.
18 is still pretty young. Did she just graduate high school? Go to seminary? Does she have a job?
Make sure that is in place before jumping into the shidduch world! Most girls don't get suggestions till at least 19 these days when they are a bit more settled.

I have spoken to Reb. Cohen in person a couple of times. I found her to be extremely down to earth and practical. Maybe your daughter would be willing to give it a try once and see if she feels intimidated? She doesn't need to follow up if she's uncomfortable doing so...
If she's 18, did she have a teacher who she respected, or whose opinion she would trust? I'd imagine most would be open to some phone conversations to help a student

I called rebbetzin Cohen when I had sensitive parenting questions and I found her to be extremely warm, caring and helpful. I don't think she gives off an intimidating feeling to her. Maybe call her yourself and discuss the situation with her and feel her out...
