My 1 year old is in daycare but it’s the first time I’ll be needing a babysitter. In the summer during the break while I’m working, I’ll have a high school girl come over for a couple of hours.
Is it normal to have the girl come once now to see how she interacts and if they get along? It’s my first and I’m so nervous. I was so careful about choosing a daycare, I feel like should be also for a high school girl, no?
It’s so funny because I babysat for years and I never had to do a trial but like how did those mothers just trust me?
Lol it’s weird to be on the other side! When did I become an adult?!

Very normal. Just tell her you'd like to try it once when you're home, and pay her for her time.

I would just ask people that know her what shes like with kids..
maybe her neighbors.

Make sure you trust whoever is referring this girl to you. That is a huge piece!
And no, I don't think its weird to ask her to come over for a "test run". If you don't want to tell her that you're nervous etc, just tell her that you want your toddler to get a chance to know her a bit so he won't be too hard when you leave

It’s normal even if you didn’t have to do it as a teen. Times are different.

Yeah it’s normal. You can tell her you want to acclimate your child to her while you are around.
